The NFL’s Wild Card playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers has been rescheduled until Monday evening due to significant winter weather, New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated on Saturday.

“I’ve been in communication with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend,” Hochul wrote on Twitter and X

“In consultation with our emergency response teams, Buffalo Bills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed to 4.30pm Monday.”

The Bills posted an item on their club website on Friday requesting fans to assist shovel snow at Highmark Stadium, offering $20 per hour as well as free food and breaks during shifts.

The game, which was initially slated to start at 6pm (UK) on Sunday, will now be played at 9.30pm on Monday, with live coverage beginning at 9pm on Sky Sports NFL.

There is a storm warning in the Buffalo area, including Erie County, and Hochul has stated that there would be a travel prohibition.

According to AccuWeather, wind speeds of up to 65 mph are expected in Buffalo, along with one to three feet of snow.
“The decision to move the game to Monday was made in consultation with New York Governor Kathy Hochul in the best interest of public safety, and with the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the region prepares for the storm,” the Buffalo Bills stated in a statement.
Buffalo’s 2022 season was affected by weather when a storm moved their clash with the Cleveland Browns to Detroit in November, then a blizzard delayed their journey home from Chicago on Christmas.
