BREAKING NEWS : Ipswich Town are now close to announces key player departure

Charlton Athletic is allegedly in advanced talks to sign Ipswich Town striker Freddie Ladapo.

The Blues are now low on attacking alternatives, with George Hirst [hamstring] sidelined for the majority of the season and Dane Scarlett recalled by parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

It leaves Ladapo and Kayden Jackson as the club’s only fit out-and-out strikers, though Town are looking to add at least one no.9 before the conclusion of the January transfer window.

Ladapo, on the other hand, has been linked with a move away from Portman Road, with Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reporting that Charlton are vying for his signature this month.

The South London Press has subsequently confirmed that the move will be on loan, and that the 30-year-old is currently undergoing a medical in South London alongside Uche Ikpeazu, who is also scheduled to join the club from Port Vale.

The Addicks are now 13th in League One, but Michael Appleton is optimistic that more attacking options will improve his team’s prospects of making the playoffs.

Charlton had a bid accepted for Peterborough United’s Jonson Clarke-Harris, but personal terms could not be reached.

Ipswich, on the other hand, have had bids rejected for Sam Gallagher (permanent) and Kieffer Moore (loan) as they continue to seek for attacking players.
