Here are three players that are expected to leave Huddersfield Town from June on.
Huddersfield Town Football Club has had another long, grueling season.
The Terriers had a tumultuous season last year, but Neil Warnock’s hiring as manager helped the team retain Championship status for another season.
Despite the effort done, the club chose to take a different approach a few games into the season, bringing in Darren Moore to replace Warnock.
However, that appointment did not work out, and the team is now on its third manager of the season, with Andre Breitenreiter taking over as new head coach.
This is the German’s first role in England, and his goal is to assist the club stay above the dotted line and then push on the next season.
Breitenreiter cannot make personal changes because the transfer window has closed, thus he has wait until the summer to make adjustments.
Huddersfield is expected to have a busy summer, regardless of their Championship status. We have identified three players who are set to leave the club starting in June…
Jacob Chapman
Jacob Chapman has been with Huddersfield since 2019, when he joined the club after transferring from Australia.
Chapman has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter for the Terriers since joining the club.
The goalkeeper represented the club’s academy while also being loaned out to a number of clubs around the English Football League.
Prior to this season, Chapman had never appeared for the Terriers first team, but that changed when the club suffered goalkeeping problems and the 23-year-old was handed an opportunity in goal.
Chapman’s contract expires at the conclusion of this season, therefore it appears he may be leaving the club. Even if Huddersfield decides to offer the goalie a new contract, he might leave the club on loan during the summer in search of regular games.
Brahima Diarra
Brahima Diarra joined the Terriers at a young age, moving from France to the club’s academy team in 2019.
Since then, the 20-year-old has worked his way up the age levels, including a loan spell at Harrogate Town, before earning an opportunity with the first team.
Diarra, a midfielder who made few appearances in 2020/21, has become a key player for the club this season. His performances have sparked interest from Bristol City and West Brom in the summer transfer window.
A trade never materialized, but the interest is unlikely to have faded, and with his contract due this summer, he might be on his way out of the club as teams circle and his terms expire.
Huddersfield will need to agree on new terms with the player in order for him to stay, which may be unlikely if they get relegated.
Josh Koroma
Josh Koroma’s future at Huddersfield was a heated topic last season, as the forward was nearing the end of his contract and playing well for the club.
However, fortunately for the Terriers, Koroma elected to continue with the club, signing a two-year contract until the summer of 2025.
The 25-year-old has proven to be a crucial member of the Yorkshire side this season, contributing goals and assists.
However, Koroma may be difficult for the club to retain in summer because he performs well for a struggling team.
So, while he may still be under contract at the John Smith’s Stadium this summer, his exit may materialize, as a team may potentially come in and attempt to buy him, especially if Huddersfield end up in League One next season.
