Baltimore Orioles’ Injured Star Prospect Expects Return in Showcase Event

The Baltimore Orioles could get a glimpse of their budding superstar prospect at an exciting new event featuring some of the finest minor leaguers.
Most people who follow Major League Baseball are aware of what the Baltimore Orioles have done with their farm system.

They’ve reaped the benefits of drafting and developing Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, and Jackson Holliday into the top prospects in baseball.

Holliday is likely to make his MLB debut sometime this season, even if he does not make the Opening Day roster.

There were speculations that the Orioles might have another superstar talent in their farm system who could end up at the top of lists like his predecessors.

The new MLB Pipeline rankings reflect this, with 19-year-old Samuel Basallo listed as the sport’s 17th-best prospect.

He dominated the minor league affiliate levels where he played last season, recording a slash line of.313/.402/.551 with 20 home runs, 53 extra-base hits, and 86 RBI in 114 games.

Baltimore fans hoped to see how the youngster would perform against Major League opposition this year because he was a non-rostered invite to camp.

However, it was revealed that he was battling with a stress fracture in his arm, which has hindered his ability to participate in Spring Training.

However, Basallo believes he will be able to return for Major League Baseball’s new showcase event, Spring Breakout, this year.

“I sure hope so… and I think those are the plans as of right now,” he stated regarding playing in the March 14 game, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.

The good news for the Orioles is that Basallo is doing well.

He just had the opportunity to participate in live batting practice for the first time, indicating that he may be getting closer to returning to live action.

“I felt pretty good, and I feel great overall. I was just overjoyed that I was allowed to return and play again,” he remarked.

While facing some of the greatest minor league baseball prospects isn’t the same as seeing what he can do against MLB talent, it will still be a terrific opportunity for him to compete against some of the best players he may face in the major leagues someday.
