LeBron James, the NBA and LA Lakers sensation, has sent Virgil van Dijk a motivational message and supported him to lead Liverpool to “amazing things”.
What happened?
Van Dijk has gotten a lot of praise for his efforts since taking the captain’s armband at Anfield this season, with the Reds still in contention for a treble of titles before coach Jurgen Klopp’s departure. James, a basketball legend, has hailed the Dutch centre-back and encouraged his team to victory.
WHAT LEBRON JAMES SAID ABOUT VAN DIJK
“VVD, my guy,” James responded. “I hope you are well. I just wanted to say congratulations on taking the armband this season. I am confident that you will lead our club to great success. Strive for greatness. “You will never walk alone.”
Van Dijk said, “The king has spoken…” Let’s rock and roll!”

Van Dijk has been a regular for Liverpool this season, starting 25 Premier League games since being named captain, more than any of his teammates. His predecessor, Jordan Henderson, confessed on Wednesday that the Anfield club has had a “lift” since the Dutchman was named captain after the English midfielder left to join Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
WHAT IS NEXT FOR VAN DIJK?
After helping Liverpool to Carabao Cup victory recently, Van Dijk will look to complete the season with more trophy as his team competes for the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League titles in the closing months of the season.
