LSU expanded its transfer class on Tuesday afternoon with the signing of Wisconsin transfer defensive end Gio Paez.
Paez, a Los Angeles native who attended high school in North Carolina, was a three-star recruit for the 2019 class. He will begin his sixth season of college football in 2024.
Paez played 34 games for Wisconsin over five years, starting 11 of them. Six of those starts came in autumn, when he posted a career-high 23 total tackles. Paez has 36 tackles in his Badgers career, 1.5 of which are for loss.
He will have one more year of eligibility as a graduate transfer.
While Paez is far from a proven commodity and has not produced significantly in his career, he might provide valuable depth for a defensive line group that is losing a lot of skill from the 2023 season.
