The Bucks’ medical team initially labeled the two-time MVP’s ailment as a calf strain after Tuesday’s game.

Bucks fans’ overall reaction to the Greek Freak’s injury update is one of great relief. Given all of the Murphy’s Law scenarios that were undoubtedly running through supporters’ thoughts when Giannis went down, a very mild injury was wonderful news, to say the least.

Some are concerned that the Bucks may rush Antetokounmpo back before he is fully recovered. A few people brought up Kevin Durant, who sustained a similar calf injury while playing for the Golden State Warriors in 2019. Durant returned and ruptured his Achilles in an attempt to return for another NBA Finals run.
Others believed that Antetokounmpo’s injury provided Doc Rivers with a significant excuse if the Bucks underperformed in the playoffs.
As long as Giannis can return to the playoffs and stay healthy, Bucks supporters will win big. However, as a few fans pointed out, the team would be wise to exercise caution with its franchise hero and not jeopardize long-term health for short-term success.
