Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has stated that he wants to ‘retain’ George Dobson this summer.
Charlton Athletic’s midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with Fehervar.
Dobson, 26, is set to join the Hungarian side at the start of July when his contract with the Addicks expires.

According to London News Online, Jones stated: “It would be disrespectful for me to say anything about Hungary, but what we are saying is that he is good enough for Charlton.” That is all we care about.

“He has signed some pre-contracts in Hungary. That’s why we have no notion [what his future holds]. We want George Dobson to stay; he has been excellent. We want to keep as many talented athletes and personnel.

Charlton have little recourse now that Dobson has signed a contract with Fehervar, according to their official club website.
It is a loss to the Addicks to lose him, since he has been a crucial component in the middle of the park in recent seasons.
However, his departure will provide Jones the opportunity to bring in a replacement this summer in preparation for the next season.

Charlton signed Dobson in 2021, and he has since made 141 appearances across all competitions, 41 of which have occurred this season, scoring five goals.

He has previously played for clubs such as West Ham, Sparta Rotterdam, and Walsall

Charlton drew 2-2 at home against Wigan Athletic last time out, and their unblemished record under Jones continues. Chuks Aneke scored a late equaliser against the Latics.
