Rotherham United are overjoyed to have won the EFL Green Club Award at the 2024 EFL Awards ceremony, which took place Sunday night.
With the support of our outstanding Community Trust, the Millers defeated Watford and Northampton Town for the top prize at the League’s annual ceremony on Sunday, April 14th, in London.
The Millers won special recognition for their ‘Go Green’ campaign, which fueled a number of distinct projects, including the hugely successful #TidyUpOurTown scheme, Swap Shop, and Top Ten Tips guide.
Staff from our Community Trust have worked tirelessly alongside first-team players and volunteers throughout the year and beyond to make Rotherham United a more green and sustainable football club, with the work receiving special recognition from the EFL, including the coveted Green Club Award.
Following the Millers’ achievement at the EFL Awards night, Community Programme Manager Jonny Allan revealed
“It goes without saying that we are overjoyed and proud to have won this really prestigious prize.
“I’d want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has worked so hard over many months to make this all happen.
“From every staff member, volunteer and the first team players and staff who have always been happy to give up their time to help us with our endeavours, each and every one of you has played such a crucial part in helping us to this success.”
“I’d want to give a special mention to our former striker Georgie Kelly, who was incredibly important in a number of our projects, particularly the Swap Shop initiative, which he assisted us in launching.
“Making Rotherham United a more green and sustainable football club has been a the forefront of our endeavours and whilst it is obviously fantastic to win this award, we want to continue on the good work we’ve already started.”
