LATEST UPDATE : Swindon Town hijack plan revealed in Coventry City and Rangers transfer race

The young attacking talent is already making an impact for the Australian Championship team. Coventry City and Scottish heavyweights Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Macarthur FC attacker Raphael Borges Rodrigues this summer, but Swindon Town has a plot to hijack the deal.

According to Football Insider, the 20-year-old’s performance has piqued the interest of several European clubs.

Rodrigues was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia when he was young. He joined Melbourne City’s academy in 2017, but made only a few senior appearances for the club.

The forward then joined Melbourne City’s Australian top-flight rivals Macarthur last summer and has since impressed in his first season with the club.

Rodrigues has six goals and two assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for his current club.

As a result, the winger appears to be receiving a lot of interest from other clubs ahead of the summer transfer season.

Coventry and Rangers are thought to be preparing moves for the 20-year-old.

Swindon Town are also believed to be interested. The League Two club is controlled by Clem Morfuni, who is reportedly hoping to use his connections in Australia to win the race for Rodrigues.

Macarthur, for their part, appears to be ready for bids to sign Rodrigues when the transfer window opens.

The winger is set to enter the final year of his contract with the A-League club this summer, which could put them under pressure to accept a decent offer.

Coventry are secured for another Championship season.
Despite another push for the Championship play-offs this season, Coventry will not gain promotion to the Premier League this time.

The Sky Blues are now eighth in the second-tier rankings, eight points behind the play-offs with just two games remaining.

They host automatic promotion contenders Ipswich Town on Tuesday night before finishing the season at home to QPR on Saturday lunchtime.

Rangers, meanwhile, sit second in the Scottish Premiership, three points behind league leaders Celtic with four games remaining.

Rodrigues might be a valuable Sky Blues signing.
The signing of Rodrigues appears to be a logical decision for Coventry City.

With much conjecture around Callum O’Hare’s future when his contract expires, Mark Robins’ team may require attacking midfield recruits this summer.

Bringing in Rodrigues would add depth to those areas, as the 20-year-old can operate across the pitch.

He also appears to be full of promise, and at his age, he has plenty of opportunity to mature and improve even more with experience. That means he has the potential to become a valuable asset for Coventry in the future, earning a good return on investment.

Meanwhile, Rodrigues’ contract situation might make him a cheap target for the Sky Blues, and beating Rangers to his signature could be considered a coup.

With that in mind, there may be an argument that this is a transaction worth pursuing for Coventry.
