LATEST UPDATE : Swindon Town look for a permanent manager, as 48-year-old is being considered.

Swindon Town are looking for a permanent manager, and Derek Adams is a contender, according to reporter Alan Nixon on Patreon.
Swindon Town concluded the 2023-24 season in 19th place in the League Two table.
The Robins were far from the relegation struggle, but the tightly packed division and the club’s poor form kept them far from the play-off race they had previously been involved in.

Gavin Gunning has been the team’s temporary leader since January 2024, when they decided to separate company with Michael Flynn.

Now that the season is over, Swindon Town will quickly focus on appointing a new manager, and a prospective candidate was connected on Sunday.

Reporter Alan Nixon writes on his Patreon page that Derek Adams is a candidate for the County Ground position. He has also been listed as a candidate for other open positions.

Adams, 48, is out of job after his third tenure as manager of Ross County ended in February. He has worked for Plymouth Argyle, Bradford City, and Morecambe.

The search for a permanent boss.
Swindon Town should make an appointment, and the sooner the better. There is work to be done before the 2024/25 campaign, and an early start would be desirable.

The new manager will want to review their squad while also bringing in some new faces.

It remains to be seen whether Adams is the right guy for the job at the County Ground, but given that he is now without a club, you would think it would be a smoother appointment to make.

He is an experienced EFL operator, having led Plymouth Argyle for over four years and guided Morecambe to League One on a low budget.

If Adams joins Swindon Town, the hope is that he can help the club return to the top of League Two after a poor season. Fans will expect better, therefore the new manager must deliver on that promise.
