LATEST UPDATE : Charlton Athletic midfielder discusses potential permanent transfer exit

Scott Fraser, a Charlton Athletic loanee, has stated that his potential permanent move to Hearts is a ‘ongoing’ problem.
Fraser was loaned out by Charlton Athletic in January, giving him a chance to play regularly away from The Valley after falling down the pecking order in the new year.
He returned to his native Scotland with Hearts and has appeared nine times in all competitions, contributing one assist along the way.
Fraser has had a calf problem, which has hampered his loan, but he mentioned earlier this year that he would be interested in a permanent move, and that desire persists as the summer approaches.

The Charlton Athletic loanee told the Edinburgh Evening News that his future stay at Hearts is a ‘ongoing’ problem.

“It’s something that is ongoing,” Fraser said when asked about returning for next season.

“They made it apparent that this was not a spur of the moment decision. I’ve been aware of the past interest for some time, so it’s not new. My goal was to show that I could play for a team like Hearts, which is trying to make it big, and that I could help them reach to the next level.”

According to the article, Charlton has instructed Fraser to report for pre-season training next month, and he has promised to stay professional if he returns to South London. Fraser added

“I will continue to work hard, and whatever the future brings will happen. I must remember that another club is engaged, with whom I have spoken.

“It sounds like they anticipate me and want me to back down. When I originally moved up here, I said I would respect that and the fact that I had another year there. They resume pre-season at the end of June, and I am expected to return down there.

“I expect to have more debates about it subject here in the future. We’ll see what happens to them.”

Eyes on an exit.
Fraser has already stated that he wants to continue at Hearts, and his new statements indicate that this will not change. The fact that the Scottish club has already expressed an interest in him suggests that they may also try to keep him, despite the slightly disturbed loan.

After dropping down the pecking order at Charlton Athletic, you can understand why he’d want to stay there.
While the situation is still unclear, Fraser appears to be on track to report for pre-season training with the Addicks. However, whether this changes in the next weeks remains to be seen.

A new chapter at Charlton Athletic.
It’s worth mentioning that Fraser left the Addicks when Michael Appleton was in charge. Of course, he has since left the club, and Nathan Jones has taken over.

It’s not impossible that Fraser will return for pre-season training and Jones decides the Scotsman can play a role in his plans, so keep an eye out as the Welsh boss shakes things up at Charlton Athletic.

Time will tell whether this is in line with Fraser’s desires. However, it is worth noting that the change in manager during his Hearts loan may have a significant impact on his future.
