BREAKING NEWS : Derby County sent clear transfer demand as Championship plans are put in place

The most recent Derby County news from DerbyshireLive as Paul Warne begins preparations for the Rams’ Championship return.
In some respects, it feels like it happened a long time ago, yet Derby County’s promotion to the Championship has only been confirmed in the last few weeks.

Victory over Carlisle on the penultimate day of the regular season guaranteed the Rams finished second in League One, saving them from the agony of a nerve-racking play-off struggle, as they advanced automatically to face champions Portsmouth.

So, as the dust settles on a nail-biting but ultimately successful season for head coach Paul Warne and his side, we’ve invited Rams fans to share with us their greatest and worst moments from the campaign; the players who pleased

them most, the top performances, home and away, plus the player Derby must move heaven and earth to recruit this summer.
End-of-season polls are not always easy when they follow a promotion-winning campaign. It is hard to remove those rose-tinted glasses when the adrenaline is still surging, but Derby supporters have sent a crystal-clear demand to club owner Dave Clowes about the one player who they believe is a must signing ahead of the return to the second tier.

Ebou Adams is a bit of a rarity, a loan player who becomes utterly and irrevocably loved by his new supporters – and at Derby it happened in double-quick time.

The midfielder arrived from Cardiff City in January and then played a key role in steering Derby back to the Championship. In fact, our Rams writer Leigh Curtis claims had Adams been a Derby

If they had played the season, they would have been celebrating a title victory rather than a second-place finish.

When asked if Derby should sign Adams this summer, a remarkable 85 percent responded yes, while one percent – you know who you are – declined, and another 14 percent said yes with the caveat that the price was reasonable for the Rams.

He was also considered the Rams’ best signing of the season, with 66 percent of the voting, with Curtis Nelson coming in second at 25 percent.

Roles were inverted in the Rams player of the season poll, which was easily won by central defender Nelson. Adams was placed third (11%).

Nelson, 30, arrived at Pride Park in the summer, and 41 percent of respondents thought he was the Rams’ best player this season, with fellow defender Eiran Cashin second at 26 percent.

As a result, Cashin was the obvious winner of the young player of the season award, receiving 82% of the votes cast, with Max Bird coming in a distant second with 6%.

As expected, head coach Paul Warne and club owner Clowes received excellent marks in the end-of-season vote. The manager’s performance was rated “amazing” by 49 percent of respondents and “good” by another 46, while Clowes’ ownership was rated “perfect” by 65% and “amazing” by another 29%.
