Iowa has welcomed a Big Ten transfer to its wide receiver roster.

Northwestern transfer wide receiver Jacob Gill revealed on Tuesday via Instagram that he was transferring to Iowa. He has two years of eligibility left.
Gill, along with new Iowa quarterback Brendan Sullivan, are among the former Northwestern Wildcats transferring to play collegiate football in Iowa City. Throughout his three-year career at Evanston, Gill has 17 catches for 195 yards and two scores.
Gill was a member of Northwestern’s 2021 recruiting class. He was also a standout track athlete at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. His offer list also included Louisville, North Carolina State, and Wake Forest.
Gill is listed as 6-foot, 190 pounds. According to Pro Football Focus, Gill has 17 receptions on 33 targets over the last three seasons. His longest reception of his collegiate career was 47 yards in 2022, and nine of his 17 receptions resulted in first downs. The Impact: Gill adds another perimeter talent to Iowa’s wide receiving corps. Gill will work in the slot for Iowa, and while the Hawkeyes have the greatest skill in the wide receiver room, it’s always a good idea to add more players to the mix and continue to improve that room. Iowa has been lacking top-tier wide receiver talent in recent years, and having Gill on board would make a great partnership with Kaleb Brown, Seth Anderson, and Kaden Wetjen. Gill matches the mold of the receivers that Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester has previously had success with. It will be intriguing to see what role he can play in Iowa City.
