Caitlin Clark receives offer from WNBA icon Lieberman as she considers $5m Big3 deal

The Iowa Hawkeye starlet is in demand.
Former WNBA player Nancy Lieberman has encouraged Caitlin Clark to accept a lucrative offer to play in the new Big3 tournament, expressing her desire to coach the Iowa State phenom.

Clark has smashed several Division I records at Iowa in the last five months. To name a few, Clark is Iowa’s all-time women’s leading scorer, the Big Ten’s all-time women’s leader in assists and points, the NCAA’s Division I women’s career scoring leader, and the all-time leader in Division I points scored.

It is evident she is headed for the pinnacle of the women’s game, but a $5 million offer from rapper Ice Cube to play in the Big3 could persuade her to forego the WNBA Draft when she graduates.

And if she does join up, Lieberman has promised to coach the Hawkeyes guard before facing some legendary NBA veterans.

“I believe her teammates would set her up for success if this is what she chooses,” the 65-year-old stated.

“I’d want to mentor somebody like Caitlin Clark. “If given the opportunity, I am not afraid of the moment.”

Lieberman played for the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League squad in 1981 and has been the head coach of the Big3’s Power since 2018, which she has termed as “super competitive”.

Clark’s significant professional decision
If Clark decides to join the WNBA instead, Lieberman will not be too disappointed because she believes it will eventually compel the women’s league to raise its wage owing to a number of developing players in college.

“I think it’s going to push our friends at the W(NBA) to increase salaries or some of the things that are going be negotiated in the CBA,” Lieberman was quoted as saying.

“She’s changing us financially and I think everybody should applaud her.”

Clark is currently focused on March Madness as she competes in the NCAA tournament with Iowa, with a Sweet 16 matchup versus Colorado on the horizon.

However, the 22-year-old has stated that she will evaluate the offer throughout the tournament, giving Lieberman some optimism that her wish will come true.
