Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager, is open to returning to management and is claimed to have an agreement to become the next Marseille manager if the club is taken over.
Zinedine Zidane is rumoured to have agreed to become Marseille’s next manager if the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) successfully takes over the club.
Zidane has remained unemployed since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, however he was connected to the Manchester United manager’s job two seasons ago. He was approached by United officials in late 2021, following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but turned out any move to English football.

After two successful stints at the helm of Real Madrid, the iconic former player has frequently expressed his desire to return to management. During his two tenure at the club, he won three Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.
French President Emmanuel Macron has previously stated his desire to encourage Zidane to return to Ligue 1, but the former midfielder looks to be uninterested in joining Paris Saint-Germain, the archrivals of his native city of Marseille.
According to a story in France Bleu Provence, Zidane has a theoretical agreement with the PIF (also the owners of Newcastle), who are attempting to take over Marseille from current owner Frank McCourt. They are interested in making a bid for the club, but it appears that McCourt is unwilling to sell as things now stand.
PIF is thought to have picked Marseille as the best club to take over because of their prominence and stature in French football, with Qatar holding PSG through Qatari Sports Investment (QSI). PIF would fund Marseille to compete not only in France but also in Europe.
Zidane has been connected with a third tenure in charge of Real Madrid in Spain, amid doubt over the future of Carlo Ancelotti, who has been linked with the vacant Brazil management position. However, Ancelotti is expected to continue in charge until this summer, after which the club will seek a new path.
