Eddie Howe was happy with how his Newcastle United team handled their “dangerous” challenge against Burnley.

The Magpies won 2-0 at St James’ Park with to goals in each half from Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak.

Despite Burnley’s dismal start to the season, Howe knew this would be a difficult encounter for his team to handle.

“It was a tough game,” he said. “We expected that.

“I think Burnley are an intriguing team.” Vincent has done an excellent job, and we knew we had to be very good because they play a really open style, but it’s a dangerous style if you’re not perfect on your press or whatever game you’re playing.

“It was a foundation of our success last year, our defensive resilience,” he stated.

“We take pride in it. The football club has some excellent defenders.
