Youssouf Fofana was rumoured to be a target for both Fulham and Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window.
His strong season at AS Monaco prompted him to be extensively linked with a move to the Premier League, despite his decision to stay at the French club for another year.
Fofana was now questioned by Canal+, and according to La Diagonale, he discussed rejecting Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
When asked about those clubs, the midfielder was forthright, stating that Monaco was the greatest alternative for him.
“I’d like to go somewhere where I can keep playing for the French national team.” “Of course, if we take Nottingham Forest, Fulham, and AS Monaco, I’ll stay at ASM.”Of course, we want to be at the top; that has always been my professional goal. It will never worry me to go through stages. At 30 years old, I have no trouble walking into a spacious locker room. It’s just that when my body can’t keep up, I want a profession that’s uphill and downhill, not zigzag.”
Fofana’s good form for Monaco has increased his value to €25 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Another successful season for the French side will undoubtedly attract the attention of Premier League clubs, who can certainly afford such an operation.
With these statements essentially snubbing Fulham and Nottingham Forest, it’s difficult to imagine the Whites and Tricky Trees making additional bids for him in the coming windows.
