West Bromwich Albion have announced the loan of goalkeeper Brad Foster to Alvechurch.
Albion confirmed the news on Thursday [5 October] via their official Twitter account, wishing the goalie well.
The 22-year-old has joined Alvechurch in the Southern League Premier Division Central on a 28-day loan.
Foster joined West Brom in January and has spent time on loan at Rushall Olympic this season.
Timely minutes
Foster’s long-term prospects at The Hawthorns are difficult to predict at this point.
The Englishman has previously featured on the substitutes’ bench for former club Derby County, but he is nowhere near the matchday picture for West Brom right now. Aged 22, Foster has yet to make a senior appearance and is now – temporarily, at least – plying his trade in non-league. With the likes of Alex Palmer, Ted Cann and Josh Griffiths ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order, Foster’s chances of impressing are limited.
However, some regular football abroad, whatever of quality, will at least provide him with the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.
Who can say? This loan move may be used in a few years to demonstrate how far Foster has gone in such a short period of time.
In other West Brom news, an update on why an Albion player did not start the midweek triumph against Sheffield Wednesday has been offered.
