Wolves key player has been named among the 7 worst Premier League signings of the summer.

The Mirror has included Raul Jimenez in their list of the summer’s worst Premier League signings after his transfer from Wolves to Fulham. Jimenez, the Mexican international, left Molineux after spending four years at the club, initially on loan from Benfica. During his time at Wolves, he quickly gained popularity due to his impressive all-around skills, evolving into one of the Premier League’s most feared center-forwards.

However, Jimenez’s fortunes took a tragic turn in November 2020 when he suffered a severe skull fracture during a match against Arsenal. Although he made a comeback from this dreadful setback, his career has not been the same since. Towards the end of the previous season, he found himself increasingly overlooked by former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui and left the club as a bit-part player.

His journey at Fulham has been challenging so far. The Mirror’s assessment of his performances notes some promising moments, including causing difficulties for Arsenal in a recent 2-2 draw. However, the expected goal-scoring prowess has yet to materialize. In his seven Premier League appearances for Fulham, all of which were as a starter, he has yet to open his scoring account. This less than ideal start at his new club contrasts with the hopes of many Wolves fans who wish to see Jimenez rediscover his form after his struggles following the injury.

It is worth noting that Jimenez was signed as a short-term option for a modest fee of £5 million, which might explain why some view his inclusion on the list as somewhat harsh. However, his initial challenges at Fulham could indicate that Wolves made the right decision in allowing his departure when they did.
