Southampton has officially confirmed the acquisition of Reading teenager Thierry Rohart-Brown, as announced on the club’s official website. Southampton’s youth academy has a history of nurturing exceptional talents, some of whom have progressed to become integral members of the first team, while others have ventured on to larger clubs outside St. Mary’s.
Despite their recent relegation to the Championship, there is an expectation that the academy will continue to produce promising players with the potential to contribute to the senior team in the future.
While many talents typically rise through the ranks from a young age, Southampton has also been active in signing players from other clubs. The latest addition to their setup is the 16-year-old midfielder Thierry Rohart-Brown from Reading, a move that has been officially confirmed on the club’s website. This signing has been in the works for a while, with Dom Ballard’s summer loan to Reading playing a role in the deal.
Andy Goldie, the academy manager for Southampton, expressed that Rohart-Brown was a primary target for their youth team, highlighting his versatility as a key attribute.
At just 16 years old, Rohart-Brown will be eager to advance his skills within Southampton’s prestigious academy. He will be competing with the U18 team, the same age group he played for at Reading. The fact that Goldie and his team regarded Rohart-Brown as a top target underscores their high regard for the player. It is hoped that he will develop successfully under their guidance now that the deal is finalized.
Meanwhile, Southampton’s first-team is focused on securing their fourth win in five games against Preston North End on Wednesday night. Currently, the club occupies the 5th position in the league table.
