One of Burnley’s key players is on the verge of a suspension. Josh Cullen has been a part of Burnley’s starting lineup for all nine Premier League matches this season, but he is now at risk of facing a ban.
In the Premier League, a player who accumulates five yellow cards within the first 19 matches of the season is subject to a one-game suspension within the same competition. It’s important to note that yellow cards don’t carry over to the Carabao Cup or FA Cup. As of now, Cullen has received four yellow cards, leaving him just one caution away from serving a suspension.
The most recent yellow card for the 27-year-old came during Burnley’s 3-0 loss to Brentford. He had previously been booked in matches against Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea.
In addition to Cullen, other Burnley players have also collected yellow cards. Connor Roberts, Sander Berge, and Jordan Beyer each have three bookings, while Charlie Taylor and Josh Brownhill have two. James Trafford, Arijanet Muric, Hjalmar Ekdal, Hannes Delcroix, Johann Gudmundsson, Wilson Odobert, Zeki Amdouni, and Jay Rodriguez have received one yellow card each.
Speaking of suspensions, Connor Roberts will be unavailable for Burnley’s upcoming match against Bournemouth due to his red card in the Brentford game, resulting from two yellow card offenses. After serving a one-match ban, he is set to return for the midweek Carabao Cup clash against Everton next week.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth will also be missing a player in their weekend match at the Vitality Stadium. Lewis Cook was sent off for violent conduct during Bournemouth’s 2-1 loss to Wolves, leading to a three-match suspension. Cook will be absent for Bournemouth’s next two league games and their Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool.
