Wolves could sign ‘powerful’ Max Kilman replacement with 26-year-old on summer radar

Wolves captain Max Kilman has been linked with a move to Manchester United, and there’s one guy who could be a suitable replacement this summer.

According to reports, the Red Devils have shortlisted Kilman ahead of the summer transfer window, since they require at least one new centre-half.
United have the injury-prone Lisandro Martinez, while Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane aren’t long-term alternatives. Harry Maguire has been out of favor for a long, while Victor Lindelof has never fully convinced.

So United has set its sights on Kilman.
While he is a crucial player for Wolves, any player’s sale cannot be ruled out under Fosun, as the owners strive to make the club self-sustaining.

Kilman is not just the captain, but also an asset. It’s possible that a large offer may be accepted.

Wolves may find a suitable substitute in Jake Clarke-Salter, however losing him would be unfortunate.

Most fans are unlikely to want Kilman to stay firm this summer.
He has some critics, but the majority of the fandom thinks highly of the 26-year-old, who is clearly still a few years away from his peak.

However, it is not impossible for him to go, and Clarke-Salter

Might be a good substitute.
He has made 29 Championship appearances this season, with a consistent run in the team dating back to early December.

The star has recently put in some outstanding performances, helping a previously struggling QPR move six points clear of the relegation zone.

Clarke-Salter is a good ball player, as seen by his 82.6% pass completion rate (via fbref). For context, Kilman’s rate is 84.4%.
Clarke-Salter has been a more effective tackler than Kilman this season. He’s won 39 tackles against Kilman’s 17, and his tackle success rate is significantly higher (74.4% vs. 73.1%).

He’s made 29 interceptions to Kilman’s 30 and 27 blocks to Kilman’s 46. However, Kilman has more league minutes (2700 vs. 2339 for Clarke-Salter).

Kilman has carried the ball out of defence frequently since joining the first squad, something Wolves supporters have noticed. Clarke-Salter had 77.8% take-on success in the league this season, compared to the Wolves’ 66.7%.

Finally, Clarke-Salter has only one blunder that resulted in a goal, compared to Kilman’s three.

Someone for Wolves to consider.

Wolves signing Clarke-Salter to replace Kilman would undoubtedly carry some risk.

The star has never played in the Premier League before, so he will have to adjust to a new level.

But there’s no disputing that he’s strikingly identical to the current Wolves captain. He’s the same age, same height, left-footed, and good with the ball.

QPR describe him on their official website as ‘strong, athletic, and comfortable bringing the ball out from the back’, which makes him sound intriguing and similar to Kilman.

It remains to be seen whether Wolves will swoop. If Kilman leaves, he is certainly someone to consider.
