‘Can see them struggling’ – Charlton Athletic vs Barnsley prediction: The72

The72’s writers make their prediction for Charlton Athletic against Barnsley before of the League One match on Saturday.
Last time out, Charlton Athletic drew 0-0 at home against play-off contenders Stevenage. The Addicks are unbeaten in their past ten League One games heading into this match against Barnsley.
Nathan Jones has done an excellent job at The Valley since taking over for Michael Appleton. His team has managed to pull away from danger.
Barnsley are comfortably positioned in the top six. The Tykes are fifth in the league, aiming for promotion to the Championship.

On Monday, Neill Collins’ side triumphed 3-1 away to Burton Albion. John McAtee scored twice for them against the Brewers, while Luca Connell added the other goal.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the game.

Harry Mail
“Charlton Athletic have been strong since Nathan Jones took over and I can see them being a force to be reckoned with next season”The Addicks are proving to be a difficult team to break down under the former Luton Town manager and will pose a challenge for Barnsley.
“The Tykes needed their recent victory over Burton Albion to boost confidence in their team. Their ambitions of making the top two have dimmed, but they should still be in the play-offs.

“They will be keen to end this campaign on a high but I can see them struggling at The Valley against a Charlton team who are playing well right now.”
Charlton Athletic vs. Barnsley Prediction: 1-0
James Ray
“I can see Barnsley being annoyed with this one. They haven’t had a terrific run of form, and with Charlton Athletic showing to be a lot tougher team under Jones, they can absolutely earn a result here.

“The Tykes have won four in a straight on the road, and they will be determined to make it five as they try to keep their fading top-two aspirations alive.

This should be a competitive game, but I believe Charlton will be pleased with the results. I’ll go for a 1–1 draw.”

Charlton Athletic against Barnsley prediction: 1–1.
