BREAKING NEWS : Brooklyn Nets has announce the signing of new head coach

Jordi Fernandez, the Sacramento Kings’ deputy head coach, was named head coach of the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. The 41-year-old replaces interim head coach Kevin Ollie, who was promoted in February after Jacque Vaughn was sacked. “We’re thrilled to announce Jordi Fernández as Brooklyn’s new head coach,” Nets General Manager Sean Marks said in a statement. “As we worked through a comprehensive search over the last six weeks, it became evident that Jordi is the perfect coach to guide our squad forward.

The Nets finished 32-50 in 2023-24, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Brooklyn was swept in the first round of the playoffs in 2023 (Philadelphia 76ers) and 2022 (Boston Celtics). Fernandez, who now serves as the head coach of the Canadian National Team, formerly worked as an assistant coach with the Cavaliers and Nuggets. He was the Canton Charge’s (NBADL) head coach from 2014 to 2016. Fernandez was one of three finalists for the Nets’ vacant position. Mike Budenholzer, former Bucks coach, and Kevin Young, Suns assistant head coach, were the others.
