However, he started skating earlier this month, went to Providence on an LTIR conditioning loan last week, and played for the Bruins’ AHL squad this weekend.

Forbort joined the squad on Monday without any restrictions and was teamed with Parker Wotherspoon as the fourth defensive pairing.

He’s unlikely to be in the starting lineup for Game 2, but he may be a late-game or postseason possibility.

In eight regular-season games, Forbort had four assists and was plus-8. Throughout his Bruins career, the 32-year-old has proven to be an effective shot-blocker and penalty killer.

He will be an unrestricted free agent following the season.
