Coventry City boss has admitted he could be forced to ‘play the youngsters’ due to injuries and fatigue in his squad

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has confessed he may be obliged to ‘play the youngsters’ due to injuries and weariness in his squad.
Blackburn Rovers host the Sky Blues on Saturday, needing at least a point to secure their place in the Championship for the following season. Depending on other outcomes, a win might theoretically guarantee safety.

While Rovers have had a week off, Coventry travel to Ewood Park beaten and bruised. Their season was virtually over on Wednesday night with a 3-2 loss to Hull City, reducing their chances of qualifying for the play-offs.

The squad was also put to the test after 120 minutes in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United. The club has endured a physically and emotionally taxing week.

Robins has admitted that the squad is in poor health, with three league games remaining before the season concludes. The Sky Blues manager said that he may have to employ his younger players to control the squad.
“Fabio (Tavares) has to get a surgical opinion on his ankle. He has ligament injury, and we need to determine whether he requires surgery. I believe that will be completed tomorrow (Thurs).

“He was smashed between two legs, and it only hurt his ligaments.

I believe there were two players vying for the ball at the same time, and he just got trapped between their legs, causing the harm, but it was an impact.

“Victor (Torp) tore a stomach muscle and was too in pain to play (against Hull). “I believe it’s an attachment on his hip.”Binksy experienced a tight Achilles at halftime, then felt it during the game and had to leave. I’m not sure how horrible that is yet. Joel Latibeaudiere developed a calf problem a long ago and has been managing it, but it has finally caught up with him a little.”

“I’m not sure; there isn’t much time left, but maybe yes. Certainly Fabio, possibly Joel and Binksy; I’m not sure yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed the remainder of the season as well. I’m not sure where he’s at.

“We have another game coming up on Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday, which is pretty absurd. If we have to play young players, then that is what we will have to do.”
