LATEST UPDATE : Steve Evans deliver the type of team that Rotherham United fans want to see every week.

Despite his side’s surprising 5-2 victory over Cardiff, Rotherham United boss Steve Evans remains optimistic about the future.
The Millers were the more clinical squad, winning only their fifth game of a terrible season that saw them finish 24 points behind safety.

Jordan Hugill and Tom Eaves both scored braces, as did the club’s other forward, Sam Nombe, while Cardiff’s Nat Phillips and Ollie Tanner also scored.

Evans stated, “Various managers and coaches have different styles. I believe the guys were startled that we went with three out-and-out strikers, but we expected to cause them issues.

“Cardiff will always cause you difficulties, but in the second half we had a sustained period of pressure, and Cardiff are lucky it was just five.

Steve Evans promises to give Rotherham United fans the team they want in promotion mission
“You can see what Rotherham residents desire. A squad full of industry and endeavour, with some quality. The squad possesses quality. We just gave a fantastic send-off to the supporters who have endured a long, difficult season.

“The frontmen appeared very intimidating. The guys have been fantastic since we arrived.

“The future of this club is never in doubt.” The supporters’ DNA will never change, but the team’s DNA has changed.

“I believe we have set certain things in motion that will propel us forward into the next season. The harder you work, the lucky you become.

“The boys have worked incredibly hard for the three games we have been here.”

The attention at Cardiff now shifts to manager Erol Bulut’s future, with negotiations for a new contract underway. The visiting supporters sang that they wanted him to stay and improve on their 12th-place finish.

Bulut said, “I’ve already spoken several times.” We’ve had excellent discussions with our chairman.”
