Rotherham United are likely to be looking for a goalkeeper this summer, and Ipswich Town’s Christian Walton would be an excellent choice.
Rotherham United’s relegation to League One has been confirmed for several weeks, thus preparations for the upcoming season will have already begun.
First-choice shot stopper Viktor Johansson has been a standout for the Millers this season. He has a contract until next summer, but it appears that he will leave the club this summer.

Leeds United were mentioned in Swedish reports last week, and Derby County, Stoke City, and Sheffield United are all interested.

Due to relegation, Johansson’s contract includes a rumored £900,000 release clause, thus Rotherham United may have to look for a new number one next season.

Christian Walton, goalkeeper for Ipswich Town, would be a fantastic fit for Steve Evans’ team, and the Millers would be wise to look for a good deal for the 28-year-old player.

Ipswich Town Christian Walton suffers injury blow

A bargain signing
For starters, any potential Walton deal could be a bargain, given that the Tractor Boys’ backup is out of contract this summer.

Despite playing an important part of Kieran McKenna’s side’s elevation to the second tier in 2022/23, he has been forced to sit on the bench this season, and a contract extension is unlikely. Vaclav Hladky shone in his absence earlier this season, holding down the No. 1 jersey.
The Englishman started all 46 matches in Ipswich Town’s League One promotion campaign, keeping 23 clean sheets and winning the Golden Glove award.

Walton has critical experience in the third tier, which might prove essential for Evans’ men.

who will undoubtedly seek an immediate comeback to the Championship. He has two promotions on his resume and would be a terrific figure in the dressing room.

If Walton isn’t already on Rotherham United’s wish list, he should be. This season may have been difficult, but with his return to starting football, the shot-stopper can show everyone what he’s capable of.
