Steve Cooper reacts to an unexpected referee ruling ahead of the Nottingham Forest match.

Latest Nottingham Forest news as the Reds prepare to face Burnley in a Premier League showdown at the City Ground Head coach Steve Cooper wants Nottingham Forest to focus on their own performance against Burnley rather than who will referee the game on Monday (7.45pm kick-off).

Robert Jones was on VAR duty when Liverpool lost 3-2 to Manchester United last month, and he’ll be in the middle for next week’s encounter at the City Ground.

Cooper was left “biting his tongue” during the game at Old Trafford when the visitors had Joe Worrall sent off and a penalty awarded to Danilo, both of which were controversial decisions.

As they return to action following the international break, Forest take on the Clarets, hoping to build on their great start to the season. Cooper also wants his team to be completely focused on achieving a successful outcome. “We’ll take it as it comes and look forward to the game,” he added of Jones’ appointment. “Hopefully, the impact we can have on the game will be the most important factor.”

“We’ll deal with it as it comes.” You can overthink it, and there are certainly some discussion points, but I don’t want to dwell on that.

“I just want to focus on the guys and integrate the players we have now.” This morning’s training session was fantastic, and the guys appeared to be quite motivated. That’s where I want to focus my efforts, and I’m hoping that everything else in the game is up to par.”
